Welcome to the 2011 - 2012 school year!  We have another very exciting year ahead.  Last school year, our classroom was re-located to the first floor adjacent to the new studio and control room.

The new classroom affords us plenty of room so at least three groups can shoot video projects at the same time and we can move on to a variety of different projects.  Students can also choose from three different green screen walls to shoot their videos at.  The editing lab is outfitted with PC's and Macs.  Students on the PC's will learn how to edit on Adobe Premiere Elements, while those on the Macs will edit in iMovie.  

Walk into our studio and you will find a chroma key green wall that will allow banter between our talent while in different locations of our virtual set.  Our studio is also outfitted with new professional lights and the cameras now have teleprompters, so our news anchors can look directly at the camera when they read the news.

Our control room is the heart of the operation.  The switcher, a NewTek Tricaster Pro, has been equated to a professional live truck crammed into a small computer.  It allows us to include wipes, dissolves, lower third graphics, over the shoulder graphics any many more effects, all while we shoot a broadcast.  Also, the virtual sets give our school news a more professional look.  In fact, last year, our school news won several awards including First Place Newscast in the District!

I am looking forward to another exciting year and hopefully another award winning year for Oasis students!  Go Iguanas!
